How much fragrance oil per pound of soy wax
Soy wax takes a fragrance load of 6–10% of the wax weight, with a hard ceiling at 10%. The reference points every soy maker should know:

The old "one ounce per pound" rule is a fine floor, but most soy makers land at 8–10% for a fuller throw. Measure by weight — soy's specific gravity is about 0.86, and fragrance oils are denser still, so volume measurements drift batch to batch. The 10% maximum — and why more is not better
Both GB464 and GB444 cap at a 10% fragrance load (1.6 oz per pound). This is not a soft suggestion. Soy can only bind so much oil into its crystal structure; past 10%, the unbound fragrance separates and sweats to the surface, saturates the wick, and burns dirty. Counterintuitively, an over-fragranced soy candle usually throws worse than one poured at 8–10%, because the excess oil interferes with the burn instead of releasing as scent. If a soy candle is not throwing, the answer is almost never more fragrance.
Why soy needs a long cure
Soy is the slowest common wax to cure. Its crystalline structure needs time for fragrance molecules to bond, and until they do, the scent is not fully available to release when heated. Plan on 1–2 weeks of cure for soy — compared with 2–3 days for paraffin and 7–10 days for beeswax. A soy candle tested a day after pouring will disappoint on hot throw no matter how correct the fragrance load is, and that single fact leads more makers to over-fragrance than anything else. Pour, wait, then judge.

GB464 vs GB444
The two most common Golden Brands soy waxes share the same 10% fragrance ceiling and the same 180–185°F add temperature, but they set differently:

For a poured jar candle, GB464 is the usual choice. GB444's higher melt point and firmer finish make it the pick when you want a harder set — wax melts, tarts, or warmer climates.
Add fragrance at 180–185°F
Add fragrance oil to soy at 180–185°F. Hot enough that the oil fully incorporates into the wax, but not so hot that the volatile top notes flash off before you pour.
